About Julie (your family historian)

In high school, I studied photography. In college, I was elected Class Historian (responsible for capturing and archiving photographs and relics (printed or otherwise) —for the purpose of preserving for posterity.

As a mother of three children, photographing and videoing my family has always been a non-stop passion. In fact, it was a humble business for many years —(www.juliescottphoto.com).

Then one day about 8 years ago, when my first-born Naomi was in the 4th grade in Elementary School, the class was studying about Ellis Island and the American “Immigration Experience”. I was fortunate enough to be a chaperone on a school trip to Ellis Island in NYC and immediately I was hooked into the world of Genealogy: passionately (if slowly!) researching my 4 families’ histories* so that one day I can hopefully build a narrative from the many zillions of pieces of information —one that I am eager to share with all of the cousins that I have “discovered” along the way.

We can leave our children many gifts when we are gone, but the knowledge of where they come from, and the context into which their respective lives make sense —is certainly a priceless legacy.

*(each one of us has 4 families, our mother’s 2 sides and our father’s 2 sides).
